Bernie’s Typhoon and Hunter

For the next few weeks we will be featuring the models of long time IPMS Toronto member Bernie H, continuing this week with Typhoons and a Hunter.

“My friend in Germany is associated with the Boelcke Association of JaboG 31 and he is often on the Air Base which is very close to were he lives.  The German Typhoons are always extremely clean, see photo of the display aircraft and told me that the panel lines are hardly visible because of the high quality of construction.  Revell list the colour of the landing gear as light grey but that is not true, please see the undercarriage picture.
For the Hunter F.3 conversion I used the Wolf Pack Conversion set.  What an easy spray job,  The decals came withe the conversion set and fitted very well.”

Bernie’s Jaguars

Long time IPMS Toronto member Bernie H. will be showing some of his recent builds over the next few weeks, starting today with a collection of 1/72 scale Jaguars.

“The Revell Kit is the re-issue of the Italeri Model, it has a few additions over the Italeri kit but has the same bad canopy and speed brakes.  As you can see with some effort it is still buildable.  I tried to open up the openings on the speed breaks by drilling both ends of the openings and than connecting the holes with a mouse-tail file.  I was unable to do it successfully.  I filled the holes and sanded it down.  I phoned Ian Botaitis if he cold make the openings as decals which he did and send them to me very quickly.  He printed them in black and grey and surrounded the openings for the inside of the speed breaks in an elongated rectangle.  Please look at the ‘Sadman’ pictures 06a and 07a.”
