AGENDA

  • 6:45 – 7:00 Arrive / setup
  • 7:00 – 7:10 Announcements / welcome to new club members
  • 7:10 – 8:00 “Japan’s great hobby stores”, by Maurizio Laudisa

MODEL CLINIC

We have received two submissions for the Model Clinic, thank you!  We would like to receive a few more, so that once we have received at least three, we can schedule a live clinic session at an upcoming meeting.  We had given a July deadline for submissions, however, feel free to email us anytime with photos and descriptions of any work you’d like to be considered.

MIGHTY 8K 3D PRINTER FOR SALE WITH CURING / WASHING STATION

After some serious consideration, Harvey Low has decided to sell his Phrozen Sonic Mighty 8K 3D Resin Printer and Curing/Washing Station set. The printer is still new (less than 10 prints) and only purchased two years ago directly from Phrozen in Mississauga. This machine has one of the largest plates on the market, with ultra-fine 8k resolution, and retails in Canada for $650. The included Elegoo Curing and Wash Station retail for about $200. A leather cover (to prevent light seeping through while printing) and some resin are also included, an additional ~$100 value. Harvey’s asking price is a firm $650, all sales final. Buyer picks up or he can meet you somewhere convenient in the GTA.

If interested, please contact Harvey directly at lowharvey@hotmail.com.

OPERATION “VETBUIILD”

Our member and past club President Harvey Low volunteers his time to “Vetbuild, a Canadian Legion Program that helps military veterans to cope with PTSD by teaching them how to build and paint scale models. Vets are hugely passionate about modeling now, but sorely lack good paints and thinners (they use tap water and old art acrylic paints not designed for airbrushes). They are now learning airbrushing and have a compressor and airbrush already, but lack suitable good paints.  Harvey is asking for any kind donations of spare Tamiya acrylic paints and thinners for the veterans. Of course any model supplies (sanding sticks, glue, etc) will also help, however, suitable good paints are a priority and Tamiya are especially simple to use.

If you have spare Tamiya paint, or feel like donating a few new ones, please bring them to our meeting for a good cause, and thank you Harvey for this important initiative!  You can learn more about operation “Vetbuild” by visiting their site directly here

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • Please watch for an upcoming email on how to submit your model(s) pictures and descriptions for the “Model Clinic“.  As mentioned at a couple of meetings, a panel of experienced modelers will take time to assess your submissions and provide some public feedback designed to improve our modelling skills.  More information and details about the Model Clinic will be shared in a separate email.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • The Model Clinic” is an idea we are developing to provide constructive feedback to anyone who wishes to have one of their models evaluated by an experienced panel (aircraft and armor only for now).  We don’t often get in-depth feedback on our models from shows, contests, or friends, making it challenging to more quickly improve our skills.  The process is still being worked on, but it will likely consist of an email reminder to submit a couple of pictures of a model you’d like to be evaluated.  This will be followed by a “live” session in one of our meetings, where the panel will first privately review, and then publicly share, their observation and feedback on each of the models.  Due to time constraints, we will be limited to 3 or 4 subjects per session on a first come, first serve basis, more details to come in future updates.
